ATI MARTIAL ARTS AND FITNESS CENTRE

Located in a Prime Location on Great Eastern Highway, Midland, we have an amazing 300 square metres of training area!  Parents can relax and watch their children train on the big screens and know they are being well looked after.  Adults looking to train for fitness, fun, extra confidence or to step into the ring for the first time are most welcome!

What is Mixed Martial Arts?

Traditionally people have trained in a specific style or art.  Karate, Muay Thai, Judo, Wrestling, Jiu Jitsu or the many others around the world.  Mixed Martial Arts is exactly as it sounds.  Essentially it's an art combining anthing from any Martial Art and tested during thousands of hours sparring and in the ring/cage.

In the words made famous by Bruce Lee, "Absorb what is useful.  Discard what is not.  Add what is uniquely your own."

This is why it has become the fastest growing sport in the world.   Taking the best from any art, in it's own right it's a well rounded and practical martial art.  It does not matter what age or fitness level you are, you can do it.

What Will I Learn?

MMA is a full body workout.  Each and every class will have a good solid warm up, stretching then usually start with some light stand up technique. You will learn how to punch, kick, take people to the ground and also how to finish them there, be it with punches or submitting them.  You will also learn how to defend against someone who wants to do all of these things to you!

And please, don't be shy.  Nobody is there to hurt you, everybody is there to learn and to have a good time doing it.

About Your Coach

I call myself a coach NOT an instructor.  I have a little saying after 15 years doing martial arts.

"Martial Arts Instructors are a dime a dozen.  A good Martial Arts Coach, they're worth their weight in gold!'"

After getting my Black Belt in Kung Fu back in New Zealand and having competed in local Karate and Tae Kwon Do competitions I moved to Australia.  Martial Arts here was well ahead of what I had learnt!  I remember the first time I stepped into the ring here with 16 ounce gloves on and freaking out wondering how I can hurt anyone with these big balloons on my hands.  I remember walking away with a massive head ache too!

Since then I have always pushed myself to learn and my passion for the arts has seen me develop into one of the most well rounded coaches you will find.  My final challenge to myself after approximately 15 years of training in Kung Fu, Tae Kwon Do, Muay Thai, Judo and Jiu Jitsu was the biggest challenge to date.  I moved to Thailand for a year to train at the famous 'Tiger Muay Thai.'  This proved to be an amazing year of learning for me where I got stuck between my passion for Boxing and my passion for Grappling!  It was an incredible experience!!  I tested myself against many pro fighters and veterans of the sport and upon returning home I could walk with my head held high and be proud of myself for accomplishing yet another major goal in my life.

To me Martial Arts isn't something you do, it's something you are.  I can't describe it any other way.  I sincerely hope you will share my passion and continue this never ending journey of discovery with me.
